Accessing civilian health care during the government shutdown for TRICARE beneficiaries - During the current lapse in government appropriations, you may continue to get care or attend currently scheduled appointments with your civilian providers. Your usual out-of-pocket costs will apply. You may also continue to fill prescriptions at military pharmacies, retail network pharmacies, and home delivery. However, TRICARE may not be able to process or pay medical claims for services received until funding is restored. The Defense Health Agency is also working with our TRICARE contractors to communicate with healthcare providers on potential delays in payment. If you are denied care or informed services are suspended, please contact TRICARE East customer service Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM (ET and CT) at (800) 444-5445.

RED CROSS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The American Red Cross provides the us with approximately 100 adult volunteers. Additional volunteers are always welcome. If you are looking for a way to spend some time helping others, this is the way to do it. Red Cross volunteers can work in every area of of our facility: clinics, wards, administrative sections. Without volunteers, it would be difficult for some of our areas to handle all of their patients. Red Cross volunteers are an integral part of our community. Additionally, the Heyward Career Center students work here from October through May. The Heyward students come from five high schools in Richland Country and can be recognized by their blue smocks. Normally, they work two hours per day, three days a week. Benefits for volunteers include health and safety training, educational opportunities, annual in-service benefits, a program for youth in summer months. The Red Cross does provide limited child care fees for volunteers
